31 Day Nail Challenge: Week 4 - Green Nails

It's already week 4 in the nail art challenge that Morgan, Gemx and myself are doing together. Time flies! The obvious choice for green nails in my eyes was dinosaurs. I love dinosaurs. I thought for a while about doing Yoshi, everyone's favourite dinosaur! But I forgot to take my red nail art pen with me to my bf's for the weekend so I had to rethink. This is what I came up with!

Super Mario 1up Mushrooms! YAY! I used two coats of China Glaze Gaga for Green from my birthday haul, and my nail art pens for the details. I totally geeked out whilst doing these. Ok well no I was watching Downton Abbey on Sky+ lol but inside I was geeking out. I'm such a Nintendo fangirl and love the whole Mario/Yoshi franchise. Did you know that Kirby celebrated his 25th birthday only a few days ago? Happy Birthday you pink ball of joy! <3

Anyway. Enough of that. I now have 2 more lives than my cat, though my brother asked if I should count my actual life because he said "you haven't got one". *sad face*

Gemx and I met up in London yesterday for a mammoth nail varnish buying session. It went well. I'll do a post on that very soon! She was telling me about the green nails she did and how she wanted to redo them but didn't have time. They look fine to me though! Here is her green manicure!

Here's what Gemx has to say!
"Here are my green nails! I had a hard time thinking of a green theme, but I've been meaning to try this green glitter polish for ages, so I decided this was the time to try it! I first used a coat of Nails Inc (London Nights) which is a great one coat black and one coat of Filthy Gorgeous Rock Star (Tarnished Gold) over the top. Tarnished gold is definitely a misleading name, it looks pretty green to me, but it's a really nice dense glitter with small and large glitter bits."

I have this same glitter polish and it definitely looks much more limey than the picture shows here! It's so pretty!

So there we have greeeeen nails! These were super fun to do and not too hard either yay! Plus my bf really liked them too =)
Let me know what you think and be sure to check out Morgan's green nails too!

First Attempt: Jelly Sandwich

I love jelly nail varnishes. I love how soft and squishy they look, how they have a depth to them and how they shine. I also learnt that I love what they can do to glitter. I had been lusting after the Nails Inc Juicy Sheer collection since it was released earlier this year but I always find it harder to buy things online than to buy them in shops.. I guess it's because the price is always there on the screen, telling me I'm naughty.
I spotted two of the collection on ASOS in the sale with free P&P and an extra % off so I didn't feel quite so bad when I instantly purchased them. Seriously, the transaction took less than 5 mins that's how quickly I snapped them up. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have all 3, I'll have to look out for the 3rd one =)
These polishes are fab! They're so bright and fun and you can see from the bottle that they're going to be really squishy looking <3
I chose to use Henley Regatta, (the other one I got is Chelsea Flower Show) which on the Nails Inc site is called Strawberry Sheer. It's easy to tell why, not only does it look like strawberries, but it frigging SMELLS like them too!

[Sorry for the lighting of this pic, it was late at night]

I did two coats of strawberry then a coat of Barry M 210, a pink and holographic bar glitter that I won in a giveaway that Gemx held last year, and then another coat of strawberry. I think I did the last coat too thin though.. I was scared I'd cover up the glitter too much! I'll know for next time =)

The only bad thing I can say is that this took ages to dry. Usually I use a quick dry top coat, but for some reason I didn't and woke up with sheet marks. I thought about doing another coat but never got around to it.
It has been a whole WEEK since I did this mani and not a single chip! Slight tip wear but no chips!! This is totally amazing, I always chip my index fingers. Sometimes on the 1st or 2nd day! A whole 7 days with nothing is so impressive! I have a feeling I'll get bored and change it before it even starts to come off!! I think this is because of the non-drying formula because if I push really hard with the tip of my nail it leaves a dent.. but otherwise they're totally dry. Weird. I don't think it'd do that if I'd used the top coat, maybe it would have chipped sooner too.
I totally recommend these jellies, they're fantastic. Go and buy them. I would say try ASOS but they're not on there any more =( but the nails inc website still has them, as does QVC, so go go go!

UPDATE: I removed this after one week and a day because a) I got slightly bored of it haha and b) I messed it up when playing around with my corset trying outfits for a hen night.. I'm convinced it would have lasted at least 3 more days had I not got the corset stuck and had to prize it apart haha!

Feed the Addiction.

Firstly, apologies for not blogging for a while! I've been so busy with my dissertation and last week I was away from my computer so I didn't get a chance to write an entry.. but I realise that these are but poor excuses and that nail polish should come first no matter what! Please forgive me!

I've been pretty busy on the nail polish front too.. busy buying them that is! My god. I blame boots and their 3 for 2.. but really it's my fault.. I'm addicted. I dread to think about how much I have spent on nail polish in the last few months. Lots and lots I'd wager. It's bad. So I made a promise to myself that (aside from tomorrow when I'm going to Southampton with Carrie and Dan and will be making the most of the last day of the 3 for 2) I will use all of my current polishes before I buy any more. That's right! Wonder how long that will last.

Ohh oh but I have exciting news for anyone who loves Nails Inc.! I picked up some gorgeous polishes in Oxford Street yesterday and the lovely lady that gave me a great deal on them told me that they're bringing out some holographic shades next month! OH MY!!! I so want these! If I haven't used all of my polishes by the time they're out then I'm sorry but I'm breaking my promise and buying them. All of them. I was so disappointed that I couldn't get the China Glaze OMG collection so these will be perfect! And yes, I know, I know.. they are bloody expensive. But I don't care any more haha I will have them!!

So yes. I've been busy buying and I guess I should show you a picture to get across the sheer extent of my purchasing craze. Bear in mind that I took this a couple of weeks ago and my collection has since grown even more. Thank goodness for student loans.

Yeah so cheak those bad boys out! You'll notice some Orly polishes in there! I was so excited when I saw them in boots! I can't wait to try them all! I now have all of the Barry M crackles too! The BYS ones have lovely shimmer in them and were only £1.50 each! The MaxFactor ones were in an offer in Superdrug plus I got student discount on top so that made me happy! Check out the Models Own silver crackle and the Pro in Mauve Over! Gorgeous!!! Ah They make me so happy!! (Sorry for the bad lighting of this pic.. also, yes that is my dinosaur duvet. I am so cool.)

But wait, there's more!

Check out the price on those babies! Filthy gorgeous are made by the same company as Nails Inc. so I'm expecting good things! Four bottles for £12.50! I needed a new black as well, my old stargazer one has seen better days.. and the red looks nice too! But the real reason I chose this set was because of the glitters! There's a gorgeous greeny glitter and a bluey-silver one too! The lady in Debenhams said that they've got 8 different sizes of glitter inside and she showed me on her nails! I had to get them!

But the real stars of the show are these, special effects by Nails Inc.

Aren't they beautiful? The one of the left is a hematite coloured glitter with holographic flecks in it! It sparkles so much! The middle one is a pearlescent purple crackle! I had to!! And finally, the most beautiful of all, blue glitter with pink glitter flecks. Oh my it's stunning! These are usually £11 each but the lady said I could have them in the 3 for £28 offer that is for the summer colours which was so nice of her! She also added me to the mailing list so I get news about the new holo polishes! EEEEEeeee!

Ok so there is my haul of amazing nail varnish! Jealous? Hehehe.. TBH I could probably have done with the money rather than the polishes but meh they are so pretty just looking at them makes me smile!!

So here are some of the mani's that I've done recently.. unfortunately I was a bit crap and didn't take pics of them all, but here you go anyway! First up is a blue mani using Models Own Blooboo, Barry M blue crackle and Sinful Colours Hottie. What do you think? I really loved this and it lasted ages!

Here is before and after the glitter:

After this one I couldn't resist trying my new Models Own Pro! I had high hopes and I wasn't disappointed! The bubbles you can see in the picture I think came from my basecoat.. So I'll be investing in a new one soon.. Probably the Models Own one tbh. But the colour on Mauve Over is stunning! I love it! And omg it smells divine! Like vanilla! Mmmmmmm... I want the cream colour of this shade too, Lavender Blue. That'll be what I'm looking for in So'ton tomorrow!! (I did look in Oxford Street but the boots there was rubbish!! They weren't even fully stocked! Grr.)

Finally, this is the mani that I have on at the moment. It's Rimmel Lycra Pro in Ultra Violet with Models Own silver crackle =) It's very pretty but I didn't use a top coat to preserve the matt effect of the silver but it's started to rub off.. Next time I'll have to remember that it needs a top coat!

Anyway! There we have it! Long blog to make up for the lack of posts recently =) Hope everyone is well!

-Leisha.
